WHAT IS MCMASTER MUSICAL THEATRE?

McMaster Musical Theatre began in 1983, as a way for musical theatre lovers attending McMaster University to come together and do what they love best. Today, 41 years later, we have become a staple of not just McMaster, but the Hamilton theatre community at large. MMT prides itself on it’s dual purpose; we are a company that brings polished and professional-calibre productions to the city, a tradition of excellence passed from alumni which include Eugene Levy and Martin Short.

But we’re also a club, and one of our highest priorities each year is to create a supportive environment in which young artists can become inspired, grow, and feel like they’re part of a family. MMT brings people together. The Company is made up of an ever-changing team of volunteer performers, technicians, musicians, artists, and enthusiasts; We are students and non-students from various faculties, professions, and walks of life. Our audiences are just as diverse and passionate, selling out our shows weeks in advance. With the support of our sponsors, we are so excited to continue fostering creativity and growth in our community. We are invested in the cultural development of McMaster and Hamilton, and this passion is showcased on our stage each and every February.
